Orthodontic Retention

Your braces may be off, but keeping your new smile in place is an important part of your orthodontic journey.

Protecting Your New Smile

After braces or Invisalign® treatment is complete, your teeth need time to settle into their new positions. Without a retainer, teeth can gradually shift over time.

Wearing your retainer as directed by Dr. Angela Scheele helps protect the results you've worked hard to achieve and keeps your smile looking its best.

Types of Retainers

Depending on your individual needs, Dr. Scheele may recommend a removable or fixed retainer.

Dr. Scheele will recommend the type of retainer that's most appropriate for your smile.

Clear Retainers

These removable retainers are custom-made to fit comfortably over your teeth and have a discreet, nearly invisible appearance.

Traditional Removable Retainers

Often made with a combination of acrylic and wire, these durable retainers are custom-fitted to help maintain your tooth alignment.

Fixed Retainers

A thin wire is bonded behind the teeth to provide continuous support without needing to remember to put your retainer in each day.

Caring for Your Retainer

Follow the instructions provided by our team for wearing and cleaning your retainer. Keep removable retainers safely in their case when you're not wearing them, and avoid exposing them to excessive heat.

If your retainer is lost, damaged, or no longer fits properly, contact our office. Don't wait for your teeth to begin shifting before having it checked.

Keep Your Smile Looking Its Best
